When research confirmed that her previous organic certifier (CCOF) was certifying livestock factories and hydroponic (soilless) industrial greenhouses, as well as accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations from their corporate agribusiness clients — despite the law prohibiting such conflicts of interest — Susan took action — switching her certification to one of the country’s high-integrity organic certifiers, the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA).
She invested her time and money in making the change to a certifier who shares and supports the organic values she practices. And she proudly hangs this new sign on her farm gate. Thank you, Susan, for your ethical approach to protecting organics!
